Once upon a time, back when I first got my computer, I had to send it back to the manufacturer to get it fixed for something I don’t remember. Since getting it back, my version of Windows seems to have been glitched or tampered or whatever kinda weird shit my computer does, because it will actually just up and delete whatever it feels like at pretty much any random time it wants. Especially if I’m messing with files and shit. One reason I’ve never really been comfortable with getting CC.
But with the absence of any nice sims in my crappy town, I decided to throw caution into the wind and try my damnest to put sims and CC and finally have nice things for once.
First, I took everyone’s advice and tried to get Twallan’s story progression. I’ve been recommended and have actually wanted it for a while. My computer said NO

Soooooo, then I tried just downloading pretty sims. Was successful sometimes. But really nice sims (LIKE ANDIE’S THOR AMG) weren’t welcome into my game (THANKS COMPUTER). My computer pretty much hated every sim I’ve thrown at it, except Scarletsimphony’s Audio Science and Pilot Inspektor from her Creeper Legacy (READ IT BTW):
My computer likes Mediafire I guess lol. It hates everything else apparently, cept Audio’s hair, you lucky bastard. So far these two are the only ones showing up in my game. SO YEAH. That’s what I’m doing right now. Looking for sims to townie-fy and hopefully make some future spouse choices because I’m getting sad.
Anyone? Sim suggestions? Simself suggestions *maniacal laughter*
Til then, I’ll be looking for new stuff to replace the hair/clothes/etc my computer seems to be eating away *runs off*

Wow it did that to your game?! That’s so weird, since it’s such a great mod. Maybe it’s just your computer :s. Oh well I wish the best of luck finding pretty sims and CC for your game. I got to skysims2.com for clothes, peggyzone.com for hair. The files are rar, not sure if that’s what you use? For some really nice stuff try using mysimsblog.com. There like a blog to direct you to other blogs and sites. Now as far as pretty sims, I would just suggest the exchange. Like try looking for CC- crap free sims that have nice faces. Little bit of mbs and no crap attached. :3 Hope this did anything to help….. O.O

I’m looking for said sims, but so many people out there have sims that I need WA and/or LN for because my computer says they aren’t welcome into the game, no matter what I do. I found some things, but it’s hard to find things with just base game and/or ambitions only.
Wow! I feel your pain. But Audio Science and Pilot Inspektor are awesome sims – I’ve downloaded them myself. 🙂 I’d also suggest downloading Cocaine Chimeree (http://milkywaymariah.livejournal.com/43135.html) cause he’s made of awesome. I’ve been looking for pretty sims to download myself – if I find any more that are totally made of awesome, I’ll let you know. 🙂

that would be really nice! I personally need to learn now to post stuff into mediafire and start using that site, my computer doesn’t seem to ever have problems with that site unlike the exchange for god knows what reason.
You can if you want. I really don’t have any preference on what they look like, so long as they are pretty and make pretty townie babies.
It might just be your computer, but I wasn’t able to use CC and Store-bought items until recently. It turns out that you have to install everything in order by release date. So if you’re unsure of your order, I’d recommend trying reinstalling everything. As for using CC, I got most of mine from Mod the Sims.
There isn’t as wide variety as I’d hoped, but everything works smoothly. And yeah, as far as downloading sims go, I’d stick with the Exchange. Just don’t download sims with ridiculous amounts of CC, as it really lagged my game (so it might do worse for your’s).
If you’d like, I could point you in the direction of a male spare of mine. He’s attractive, and he has no CC. The only thing is, another legacy writer is using him as well, so you might catch him on another blog. And I’d offer to put up my simself, except she’s female and I’m not sure that Virginia’s into that kinda thing.

It’s got to be the computer, because all the ducks in my sims game are in a row metaphorically speaking. And I did manage to get a few things from MTS to work in my game too, it was hesitant about it but it works fine for me. As for CC laced exchange downloads, my game doesn’t like plain default sims, much less big, space eating CC sims. I keep my eye out to avoid them.
And your simself will do fine. She can breed with random men in town for a future spouse baby hopeful 😀 But thanks for the tips!

Yeah, I’m not too sure about other CC sites because this is my first experience with it, but take Rad’s advice over mine, she knows more than me. The only things I’ve downloaded from the exchange are lots, that sometimes have residents, but the only household that I downloaded was smothered with CC. I thought it was just that one, but I’m still a newb.

So, I put my simself on the exchange and on mediafire. The only non-base game items that I used was an Ambitions hair style – which I think you say is okay? I remember reading somewhere something about your computer only accepting base game and Ambitions stuff from the exchange and/or elsewhere – and the pair of Late Night shorts that I use for all of my sims’ athletic wear because I like them better than the base game shorts. But that might not let your game accept it… blah.

Don’t worry about it, I have a similar internetless situation every other weekend, so it’s no biggie. It’s when I play most of my sims chapters anyway.
I’ll give then a shot, but lately my computer will or will not accept anything, doesn’t matter if it’s base game/ BG with Ambitions, and I can’t understand that. Once, I managed to download a sim from LN (none of their clothes/hair/traits survived the installation, bu the sim managed to make it in ok), so I can’t figure out what the crap is wrong with my computer that’s accepting whatever the hell it wants too.
I haven’t tried your simself yet, though, I’ll try in the morning and let you know what happens. Cross your fingers O_O

Don’t download ANYTHING from the exchange. It’s a playground for game-breaking crap that comes attached to sims. I only ever download sims in .sim format (Mariah’s are in this format), and I’d download ones with default skins as sometimes non-default skin sims can crash your game, even if you have the skins installed. If you must get them in sims3pack format then make sure you run Custard (over at Mod the Sims) to clean them up first.
And make sure everything is in your mods folder in My Documents, not Program Files.

I did just upload my simself, Max & Herb to my downloads page, but unfortunately they are on the exchange. You are welcome to them, though Herb and Max are definitely not going to help prettify your town haha. I am hoping them being on the exchange won’t cause any issues but I may look into Rad’s advice and try saving them in sim format and hosting the dl elsewhere.

You could pair up Audio and Pilot in CAS with females mate them until you get pretty offspring and plop them into your town.

Maybe you really do need to have compatible EPs like the tags on the exchange imply, but I think Skehrer is onto something if you’re not patched. Hopefully, you can find some way to populate your town before it dies out. (Although, it would be hilarious to see the Secksies unleashed on one of the urban worlds.) Your blog is my absolute favorite sims blog of all time, and I’ve been reading sims stories since the TS1 exchange went live. Well, good luck.
PS: I just uploaded the sims in household and simpack form, just in case your game isn’t recognising sim files for some reason. It should work if the launcher cooperates.

I would suggest trying a third party installer for your cc, but you may have already done that. The only other thing I can think of is manually repatching. (but not with the incremental patches) I’m so sorry that your game is borked. It’s no wonder your town has gone gray if you’ve been stuck with EA story.

I’d reccommend my legacy sims since they tend to make pretty babies but T use a lot of LN and some CC 😦

And if you get Twallan’s Story Progression mod, it will improve your town by a looooot. And if you get his master controller, you can edit any sim in CAS 😀
Even people who don’t use CC really have those, so you should get them! And theyre non core mods so they wont destroy your computer!

It depends, mediafire is usually nice to me, and the exchange works of the sims aren’t made in LN or WA which are few far inbetween.

Let me say that I am sorry for the look of some of them. My three-year old did not want to got to bed until midnight last night and my baby was vomiting (rough night). Some of the sims have TERRIBLE clothing on because I was randomly picking base game things.

If you want more sims to chuck at the town, mine are all here:
They’ll only appear in CAS, not in your edit town screen, cos they’re .sims not .sims3packs and none of their CC will come with them, but then you can just choose your own and stick it on. All the ghosts and vamps are in human form not supernatural.
I don’t think anyone has non-default skins, but there’s a chance the Knights might have.
I’ll try it soon 😀 I’m trying to figure out why half the stuff doesn’t show up right now and hopefully fix that before I download more sims.
I’m super late, I know, but check out Carl and Pam’s sims 3 forum. They also have a guide. They are strictly CC free, and are really nice. Join the community and get some gorgeous sims. These people would even remove some expansion stuff for you if you need it. It will be at the very top in a google search. (Please! I’m Swirl-Girl there too.)
